Canva Pro in 2026: price, AI limits and what the trial leaves out
September 29, 2026Grafista Team
Canva Pro costs €110 a year for one person on Canva's euro pricing page and US$144 a year on its US pricing page (both checked on 29 September 2026). Compared with Canva Free, you get 3.6M+ templates instead of 1.6M+, 141M+ stock assets instead of 4.7M+, 5 Brand Kits instead of 1, 100GB of storage instead of 5GB, and a monthly AI allowance of up to 200 Premium or 20 Ultra AI uses.
What Canva Pro costs
Canva prices Pro per currency, so the figure at checkout depends on where you buy. Check the price shown on Canva's pricing page for your country before paying.
- Euro: €110 a year for one person. Canva Business is €170 a year per person.
- US dollar: US$144 a year for one person. Canva Business is US$250 a year per person. Canva's US page states these prices exclude applicable tax.
- Monthly billing costs more: €12 a month for Pro (€144 over 12 months) and €17 a month per person for Business (€204). Paying yearly saves €34 on either plan, about 24% on Pro and 17% on Business.
- Canva Pro Lite, a cheaper plan with premium content but the same AI allowance as Free, is only available in India and Indonesia.
- Free options: eligible nonprofits get Pro's premium features plus team tools for one team of up to 50 users, and K-12 educational organizations get most premium features for free.

What Pro adds over Canva Free
The practical differences are content volume, brand tools, storage and AI. From Canva's pricing page:
- Templates: 3.6M+ (Free: 1.6M+)
- Photos, videos, graphics and audio: 141M+ (Free: 4.7M+)
- Brand Kits: 5 (Free: 1, limited to 3 colors)
- Cloud storage: 100GB (Free: 5GB)
- AI editing tools: Magic Resize, Translate and Background Remover, outside the monthly AI allowance, with fair use limits
- Social content scheduling
- Canva AI 2.0, AI connectors, Components and Magic Layers (Free can only try Magic Layers)
- Affinity with AI: Premium AI tools inside Affinity, such as Generative Fill, Expand and image or vector generation. Free accounts get Affinity without them.
- Custom short links: up to 5
How the Canva Pro AI allowance works
Pro's AI is a shared monthly pool, not unlimited. Canva sorts its AI tools into groups, and on Pro only Premium and Ultra AI draw from the pool.
- AI design tools (Magic Write, Translate, text chat with Canva AI, photo and video animations, AI Voice): not counted against the allowance on Pro, within fair use limits.
- Standard AI (Magic Formulas, Image Upscaler, standard-quality image generation): also outside the allowance on Pro, within fair use limits. On Free, Standard AI draws from Free's 20-use allowance.
- Premium AI (Magic Layers, generating a design or elements, Canva Code, music and sound effects, forms, Affinity's generative tools): up to 200 uses a month.
- Ultra AI (conversational design with Canva AI 2.0, and image or video generation at the highest quality setting): up to 20 uses a month.
The 200 and 20 are ceilings, and they are alternatives, not a combined total. Canva's figures assume you use one tier only, write simple prompts and pick the lightest tool in that tier. Mixed or complex use gives fewer. Canva AI 2.0 costs more per task as the design grows: Canva's own example is that a 40-slide presentation uses more than a 5-slide one.
Other rules worth knowing:
- The allowance resets monthly on your billing date, including on yearly plans.
- If you run out, Canva's AI usage article says Premium tools keep working with short pauses, while Ultra tools stop until the reset. Canva's upgrade article says AI tools become unavailable until the reset. The two Help Center pages disagree, so plan for the stricter version.
- Designs generated through ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot connected to Canva draw from the same allowance.
- Third-party apps in Canva's Apps Marketplace do not use your allowance. They have their own credits.
- You can check your balance in Settings, then Billing, under AI usage.
- AI Pass is a monthly add-on for Pro and Business that Canva says gives 40x more AI than Pro. Canva's AI Pass costs $100 per person, per month. You buy it from the Billing page in Settings.
What the free trial leaves out
A Pro trial does not include Pro's AI allowance. Trials get Free's allowance: up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses, no Ultra AI, and no Premium AI in Affinity. The 10x allowance starts only after the trial converts to a paid plan.
In practice, you cannot test Canva AI 2.0's conversational design during the trial, because it is an Ultra AI tool. If AI is your reason for upgrading, the trial will not tell you whether it is worth it.
- The trial is available once per Canva account and once per payment method.
- It renews automatically. Canva bills in UTC, so the charge can land a day earlier than you expect in your time zone.
- A trial started without payment details ends on its own, with no charge.
- Canva's does not state a fixed trial length. Your end date is shown under Settings, then Billing, and Canva emails you before it ends.
Canva Pro vs Canva Business
Pro is a single-user license. The moment a second person needs their own login, you need Business, at €170 per person per year. Two people on Business cost €340 a year.
What Business adds over Pro:
- 20x Free's AI instead of 10x: up to 400 Premium or 40 Ultra uses a month, per member. Allowances are not pooled across a team.
- 100 Brand Kits with approvals, instead of 5
- 500GB of storage, instead of 100GB
- Team collaboration and admin tools. Creating a team requires Business.
- Flourish, a 10% discount on Canva Print orders where available, and paid AI top-ups
Pausing or cancelling Canva Pro
You can pause Pro for up to 3 months with no charges, and it restarts automatically after an email reminder. If you cancel, you keep paid features until the end of the billing period, your designs stay accessible on Canva Free and Affinity stays free. Subscriptions bought through Apple or Google must be cancelled in the App Store or Google Play. Deleting the app does not cancel them.
Is Canva Pro worth €110 a year?
It is worth it if the features you use most are ones Free does not include: background removal, resizing one design into several formats, more than 3 brand colors, or the premium stock library. €110 a year works out to about €9.17 a month.
Pro fits you if:
- You remove backgrounds or resize designs regularly. Both are Pro features outside the AI allowance.
- You publish for a brand and need more than one Brand Kit or more than 3 brand colors.
- You have hit Free's 5GB storage limit.
- You regularly use premium templates or stock assets.
Free is probably enough if:
- You design a few times a month from free templates.
- Your main reason to upgrade is AI generation at volume. 200 Premium uses a month is the best case, and the trial will not let you test it first.
- More than one person needs access. That is a Business decision, not a Pro one.
Where Grafista fits
If your main reason for Pro is AI design generation, there is a separate route. Grafista generates complete designs from your content, with every text, image and shape editable in its canvas editor, and downloads them as PDF, PNG or a Canva file. You can generate a design in Grafista and keep editing it in Canva.
